28 year-old Josh Simpson, from Penkridge is the latest person to benefit from the Open Door Staffordshire programme having secured a permanent job with Stone Computers Ltd, based at Acton Gate in Stafford.
Talking about his experience of Open Door and securing his dream job with Stone, Josh said:
“I found it difficult to gain employment in IT after finishing my degree course, partly due to my lack of experience but also because I struggle to sell myself in an interview. I knew that I just needed someone to give me a chance, and I got that chance with Open Door. I have my perfect job and I couldn’t be happier.”
“Stone Computers, and my managers, have been great for giving me the chance to prove myself.”
“I would most definitely recommend the programme to anyone who is struggling with gaining employment, it has quite literally changed my life for the better.”
Alison Hodgens, HR Manager at Stone, explained that the company believe in supporting the local community and providing opportunities to unemployed individuals for them to learn and develop with the hope that this will support them in gaining employment.
“With the support of Karen Pettit and her team, Josh grew in confidence and skill. His interest and enthusiasm led to him being offered a permanent full-time job role with Stone in the IT Asset Disposal team by March.”
“Josh was one of many who worked throughout lockdown as Stone supported the NHS, PHE and numerous other organisations with IT products and services. More recently when a position became available in the Service and Repair Centre, where Josh had first started, he applied for the role and we were delighted to offer him the position. We all wish Josh well for the future and a long and happy career with the company.”
