Background

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) is the statutory fire and rescue service, which encompasses the four Unitary Authorities of East Riding of Yorkshire, Kingston Upon Hull, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire, an area of 2,261 square miles and over 900,000 people. HFRS’s headquarters are based on the western outskirts of Hull and houses the majority of the Service’s administration and support services.

Situation

HFRS needed to refresh its desktop PCs throughout its 30 stations so therefore started a tender process. HFRS looked at 12 providers and after a thorough review selected Stone for its desktop requirements.

 

In the space of a year, Stone has provided over 220 StonePCs, providing powerful and robust equipment and an ICT budget saving of approximately £22,000 compared with the previous provider.

 

The StonePCs are installed at all 30 locations and are used by admin staff and firefighters alike – ranging in tasks from typing up administrative documentation to recording incident data and training records.

Solution

Stone has played an integral role in assisting HFRS to achieve its goal to reduce ICT spend; whilst simultaneously improving its capability. Stone has refreshed all of HFRS’s previous equipment at systematic stages with absolute minimum of disruption to its service to the community.

 

Stone also provides a dedicated imaging service to HFRS. On delivery all PCs are configured with HFRS applications. The fact that the systems are fully configured means that HFRS does not have to use any of its own resource to upload the images so enables faster delivery to desk and further cost saving.

 

All Stone devices come with a five year warranty so HFRS benefits from continued support from the Stone team.
