Introducing Stone’s Chosen Charities for 2022

Introducing Stone’s Chosen Charities for 2022

For those of you that have followed Stone Group for a while, you’ll be aware that CSR is an intrinsic part of daily life at Stone. We are taking every step we can to make the planet a better, more sustainable place. You might have seen us shout about our multi-award-winning Stone 360 app that is revolutionising how organisations are recycling their redundant tech whilst ensuring none of it goes to landfill, we do much more than that.

Each year the incredible team at Stone Group vote for a local, national and international charity to support. As COVID continues to change the landscape for fundraising activities, the generosity from our Stone team and that of our friends and families, as well as our customers and partners alike meant that we have been able to raise a fantastic sum of money for our 2021 charities; DougieMac Hospice, Young Minds and Client Earth.

Looking to 2022.

During this year’s nomination process, it was heart-warming to see how passionate the team were about the specific charities they support and whilst Stone’s Charity Committee puts all their energy into fundraising for three charities a year, Stone also actively encourages our staff to undertake Volunteering activities. As every other year, it was an incredibly difficult decision to pick just three, however allow me to introduce them and what they do:

Local – Midlands Air Ambulance

Since 1991, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity has been responsible for funding and operating the now three air ambulance helicopters and two critical care cars. The charity serves the communities across the Midlands including; Staffordshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire. The charity is considered the largest air ambulance operating region in the UK and they don’t stop there. Midlands Air Ambulance also provide secondary cover to surrounding areas such as Warwickshire and Mid Wales. The charity relies on the generosity of local people and businesses, each year it costs in excess of £10 million to maintain the three helicopters and provision the life-saving service. Each air ambulance mission costs £2,950 on average and each critical care mission costs £288 on average. In order to keep delivering the lifesaving services they need donations.

National – Family Fund

Family Fund was established in 1973 and in that time they have helped with over a million grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. In one year Family Fund provided over 150,000 grants or services worth over £48 million to help families across the UK. Family Fund believe that all families raising disabled or seriously ill children should have the same choices, quality of life, opportunities and aspirations as other families. That’s why their mission is to provide items and services to all low-income families, to help improve their quality of life, realise their rights and remove some of the barriers they face.

International – Destiny Rescue

Our chosen international charity, Destiny Rescue’s mission is to rescue children from sexual exploitation and human trafficking and help them stay free. Founded in 2001, Destiny Rescue’s international president started this charity as he was living in Thailand and heard a man share how he was once invited to have sex with children. Horrified that this was happening, Destiny Rescue started working to change this and has grown into a worldwide organisation that is dedicated to fighting the horrific sexual exploitation and trafficking happening. The charity rescue children from this life and help them stay free, serving to amplify the voices of those who have suffered and are suffering.

Our charity committee meets monthly to discuss fundraising opportunities for our chosen charities so please follow us on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook if you’d like to support us and keep up with our fundraising and volunteering activities.
