Our very own Sarah Ray, Family Fund Administrator, and Jake Smith, Head of PSeE Sales, will be donning their finest (and hopefully well worn-in) trainers to run the 2016 Great North Run on 11th September on behalf of Family Fund – the UK’s largest provider of grants to low-income families raising disabled and seriously ill children and young people.
And with just over a month to go, the countdown (and running gear) is on!
The Great North Run is an annual event that takes place every September. It’s the second largest half marathon in the UK and has become one of the biggest running events next to the Olympics.
Sarah and Jake are both busy training for this and dedicate their spare time to getting as much practice in as possible before the big day.
Whilst Jake is a seasoned event participant and has competed in many half marathons, this will be Sarah’s first ever one! She’s currently in training for the distance and is feeling confident-ish!
They’ve both set themselves a personal challenge too – Jake to complete the half marathon in 1 hour 45 minutes and Sarah has a target of finishing in 2 and a half hours.
This is an incredible challenge for them to take on and we ask for your support.
They’ve set themselves a target of £500 and all donations, no matter how big or small, will be hugely appreciated by both Sarah, Jake and of course the Family Fund team.
Commenting on their upcoming running debut together, Sarah tells us, “It’s a fantastic honour to be able to run for such a worthwhile cause. For me in particular, this is going to be an incredible achievement. A half-marathon for a first time running event is no mean feat! We’re confident that we’ll smash it though and do everyone at Stone and Family Fund proud.”
If you’d like to sponsor Sarah and Jake, it couldn’t be easier. Simply visit their online sponsor page http://www.familyfund.org.uk/sarah-jake-great-north-run and donate generously.
We wish them both the very best of luck! Go team Stone!
