Tuesday 12th May saw our latest fundraiser for the NSPCC and Katharine House charities take place – a thoroughly enjoyable and competitive day at the beautiful Brocton Hall Golf Club.
68 golfers came out to enjoy the lovely – though admittedly windy – weather, with additional guests joining us for the evening’s festivities.
The event was a phenomenal success all round, exceeding last year’s total with an incredible £2,500 raised on the day alone.
The day began with bacon sandwiches, thanks to the excellent catering staff at Brocton.
After registration and an opportunity to practice their game, teams took to the course for some notably impressive performances regardless of the gusty conditions.
In the evening, players and guests were treated to an exquisite 3 course meal in Brocton’s distinguished dining area. During and after dinner, guests were entertained by close-up magic from magician Paul Martin, followed by his fabulous cabaret performance.
Paul then kindly helped to run our charity auction, where guests got the chance to bid on lots including exclusive owner tickets to Chester races, tickets to an England match at Wembley, and a signed Lee Westwood golf bag, and the raffle, where we handed out prizes including an iPad mini, a Nike putter and several bottles of wine. Items for the auction and the raffle were donated by our generous sponsors.
Prizes were awarded to the 6 victors of our ‘beat the pro’ competition, as well as the winner nearest the pin on the 9th hole, and nearest in 2 shots on the 18th hole, and of course the day’s winning team, ‘Team NUC’; Peter Berks, Leon Powell, Steve Hewins and Jon Atherton.
Speaking about the event, Becky Martin of Katharine House commented, “Thank you very much to everyone involved for organising such a successful event, and thank you for choosing to support your local Hospice.”
We’d like to thank everyone that made this event possible, especially our wonderful sponsors: Acer, Intel, Asus, Toshiba, Kingston, MacFarlane Packaging, Lee Westwood Gold School, M2M, Sahara, Casio, Gap Personnel, Iiyama, Hammer, and Micron. Thanks to their generosity, and our golfers’ support, we have raised a significant amount to go towards care and support for people with life-limiting conditions, and victims of child abuse – two very good causes.
We’d also like to say a massive thank you to Brocton Hall Golf Club for their hospitality on the day and well done to everyone who played.
Check out some photos of the day below – and we hope to see you next year!
