Collaboration for the planet: how Stone, a Converge Company, gets greener

Here at Stone, a Converge Company, we’ve long had the environment at the forefront of our minds.

We hope that our actions – large or small – can be part of a global change that helps protect our planet.

We’ve partnered with various charities and organisations to spread green initiatives in Staffordshire and beyond – sometimes with international reach.

Ecologi

Ecologi Eden Rainforest Project

We work with Ecologi to help users of the award-winning Stone 360 app plant trees – and, so far, we’ve planted 20,000 trees since we launched this collaboration.

Our trees are planted in global locations like Madagascar, Kenya and Mozambique. We haven’t just planted trees with Ecologi, either – we’ve also contributed to a project that’s improving the energy efficiency of railway systems in India and to a wind power scheme in Thailand.

The National Forest

The National Forest has worked with public, private, voluntary and community organisations for the last 30 years.

One of the boldest environmental regeneration projects in the world, the National Forest has transformed 200 square miles of scarred land in Central England back to an eco-friendly state – and the work continues today.

The National Forest believes that trees are the catalyst for transformation and positive change, not only for the landscape but for the economy and for our communities, too.

We’ve worked with The National Forest for the past two years by offering volunteers the opportunity to engage in tree-planting and attend forest stewardship days. We have also had the pleasure of having an educational talk offered to all our employees on biodiversity and what we can do, as individuals, to make a difference.

In addition to this work, Stone staff have worked with Acer to participate in a 75-mile sponsored trek across The National Forest, and our staff raised over £730.

Canal and River Trust

Canal and River Trust

In partnership with HP, we provided a team of 12 to work on a Canal and River Trust project in Stone, Staffordshire.

The work involved clearing towpaths, planting along a stretch of canal and raising funds for the charity, and we worked with HP to get the job done – including raising more than £650 for the charity.

Planters at HQ

We’ve created several green spaces in our local area, we’ve taken part in a community garden tidy, and we’ve installed stunning recycled planters at Stone HQ.

These were built in conjunction with Staffordshire Business & Environment Network’s Low Carbon Business Evolution Programme and with Staffordshire County Council, and they’ve helped us brighten up HQ while doing something positive for the environment!

Signpost Services CRASH Scheme

Garden Makeover

To help in our local community we worked with Signpost Services CRASH Scheme to carry out a garden makeover.

CRASH provides practical support to people living in Stafford, Stone and Cannock areas who are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances. This garden makeover has been a labour of love, and we think the results speak for themselves:

At Stone, a Converge Company, we’re proudly committed to social and environmental sustainability – including helping out in our local, national and global communities.

Whether it’s tackling a garden makeover, clearing canals, trekking across a forest or planting trees on a different continent, we’re delighted to play our part, collaborate and contribute to making our world a greener and more sustainable place.
