Stone Group launches its award-winning IT asset disposal service across Europe

Together with Ingram Micro, Stone Europe will enable organisations across four European territories to arrange sustainable disposal of their unwanted IT assets

UK, 1st June 21 – Circular IT provider, Stone Group has announced the launch of its Europe division as it works with global supply chain management provider, Ingram Micro Commerce & Lifecycle Services, to bring its IT asset disposal excellence to France, Germany, Holland and Spain.

Via the Stone 360 app, which was launched late last year, organisations can book a collection of their end-of-use IT equipment for secure and sustainable recycling. App users receive rebates on their old IT assets, which they can either cash in, or from September, boost the value of their rebates by choosing instead to spend it on new and/or refurbished IT.

Stone Europe will pick up customers’ unwanted IT assets from their businesses or education campuses and take them to Ingram Micro’s IT asset disposal facilities in each of the four countries for disposition.  Items such as laptops, desktops, monitors, printers, servers or other peripherals are all securely wiped of data by a skilled team of technicians and then any items that can be given a second life are refurbished and sold. Those that can’t be resold are broken down to their component parts and sustainably recycled.

E-waste remains a massive challenge across the globe and Stone Europe is committed to ensuring zero waste is sent to landfill. E-waste recycling practices  vary greatly across Europe and figures from 2017 show that the Netherlands recycled 42.1%, while France managed to recycle 36.6%.

Tim Westbrook, director, Stone Group said: “Since the launch of the Stone 360 app in the UK, we have managed to save over 150,000 broken or redundant IT items from ending up in landfill.

“We’re one of few IT resellers who take full responsibility for the kit we sell to our customers by investing in our own ITAD facility and the app to make it as easy as possible for our customers to dispose of their unwanted IT securely and sustainably.

“Keen to replicate this success further afield, we have launched Stone Group Europe to help other territories manage their e-waste more effectively and give organisations an easy, secure and sustainable solution to take their unwanted IT off their hands.

“Ingram Micro was the perfect company for us across these territories because they share our passion for taking responsibility for the items we sell to our customers and taking steps to help address the world’s massive e-waste crisis. They have excellent ITAD facilities in France, Germany, Holland and Spain and eventually we hope to extend our services to more countries across Europe.”

Todd Zegers, vice president global ITAD and Reverse Logistics, Ingram Micro Commerce & Lifecycle Services said: “This relationship will help many organisations across Europe reap the benefits of the Stone 360 app, enabling them to easily arrange collections of old IT devices, reducing their e-waste impact, and helping achieve their sustainability goals through the responsible reuse and recycling of their IT assets.”

In addition to providing ITAD services, Stone Europe is also planning to extend sales of new IT solutions to customers in these territories, enabling them to take a complete and sustainable, 360-degree approach to IT, from first IT purchase through to its end-of-life.

The Stone 360 app is available for download from the Android and Apple store and it has been translated into French, German Dutch and Spanish for use in those countries.
