Stone Group - Providing digital transformation solutions to organisations across the UK.

BETT can often be full of companies all with big flashy stands that tell anyone who’ll listen how good they are. This year, we don’t want to celebrate us. We want to celebrate you – educators, technical support staff, school leaders –  the real heroes of education.

Be it managing the IT estate, teaching a class of 30, or making those decisions to invest in tech to improve the learning experience – you’re the people who believe in the greater good and that, in our opinion, makes you a hero.

In honour of that, on our hero-themed stand and beyond you’ll be able to marvel at the latest tools and tech that every decent classroom superhero needs to succeed.

Here are the things you need to know about Stone at BETT 2017.

We’ve moved

We’ve decided to mix things up a little and throw ourselves into the hustle and bustle of the ExCeL arena.

In our perfectly positioned lair on Stand E240, right next to the BETT arena, we have a smaller stand to allow us to focus on the tools and tech that matter most to you.

Education Policy Institute Report Launch

The most significant report to date into Multi Academy Trusts will be launched by Education Policy Institute (EPI) on Friday 27 January 2017 at the School Leadership Networking area (Stand G110).

The findings will directly help MATs and those thinking of starting or joining a MAT to make more informed decisions about their future.

Register to attend the launch event and be the first to find out the answers to these fundamental questions:

• How does the length of time since a MAT was established affect economies of scale?

• What is the impact of geographical spread on a MAT’s ability to give a great learning experience and achieve best value?

• What are the differences in spending priorities for smaller MATs when compared to larger MATs?

• How much do local authority schools and SATs spend on back office operations and teaching compared with MATs?

If you’re registered for BETT and would like to attend the launch, login to your Connect@BETT account, navigate to the “EPI Launch Event” and click “Yes” to say you will be attending. If you’re not already registered for BETT, you can register here.

If you can’t make it to the launch event but would still like a digital copy of the report, just fill in your details on this page.

Win a HTC Vive

HTC Vive is the hottest thing in Virtual Reality at the moment, which by default makes it one of the hottest things in tech. Rather than forking out the best part of a grand on a shiny headset, sensors and controllers why not just enter our fun competition instead?

Just visit us on Stand E240 and have a go. There’s nothing to lose! And if you’re not lucky enough to walk away with one, we’ve got loads of Google Cardboard VR headsets to give away for free too.

MATs head to the Microsoft Partner Village

As Stone Unity is proving so popular, it’s demanded its own space. And as its technology is based on the best of AzureOffice 365 and Intune – it seemed sensible to partner with Microsoft at BETT to show you how Stone and Microsoft can help you create the environment you need to share information freely and securely across your Trust.

Licensing surgery

There’s been a sea of change in the last few months, what with Brexit and huge changes to widely held volume licenses from the likes of Microsoft and Adobe.

We’re letting our very own Licensing Special Agent Emma Rolfe loose from the office and getting her on the train to BETT for the very first time. She’s the person the software vendors get advice from on customer licensing. She’s already pretty booked up, so if you want a face to face appointment all you need to do is use Emma’s simple online calendar.

Get a free GDPR compliant data protection policy template

No doubt your school already has a data protection policy. But in May 2018, there will be the biggest overhaul to data protection legislation for over 20 years: the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We’ve had an ISO 27001 Information Security Assessor trawl painstakingly through hundreds of pages of the new legislation and the guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office to put together a new data protection policy template that you can use to get compliant with the new legislation now and stay ahead of the game.
